| Man Saves Exotic Hummingbird From Wisconsin Winter
The green-breasted mango has a new perch on life.
Despite vehement objections from birding experts, an amateur ornithologist captured the exotic hummingbird earlier this week in a rescue scheme that will end with the bird being placed in a permanent home in the Brookfield Zoo outside Chicago.
The mango, a native of Mexico and South America, was perched in an enclosure at the rehabilitation center on Wednesday afternoon. It will be delivered to the zoo over the weekend, then spend 30 days in quarantine before making its next public appearance in December.
A green-breasted mango had never before been spotted north of North Carolina, and hundreds of birders drove to Karl and Joan Salzberg's house to capture a look at the species far removed from its natural domain.

Just as the bird watcher saved the mango from sure death in Wisconsin's winter, so Jesus saves us from eternal death, separation from him for all eternity.
